GHK Leap 2026

Learn    Empower   Apply    Play

Glad’s House Kenya (GHK) works with children and young people from marginalized communities, including those who are street-connected. We use a variety of approaches to meet and support each individual from their first point of contact. Each child has a unique story, and many have faced extreme difficulties from a very young age.

We recognize that a child’s age may not reflect their lived experience. While society may be quick to judge, at GHK we are constantly reflecting on how we can improve our approaches to make a lasting, meaningful impact on each individual.

In April 2026, we will run GHK LEAP 2026 for 10 days with a renewed and strategic focus on staff development and long-term sustainability on the beneficiaries

Through this initiative, we plan to support up to Glad’s House Kenya staff members to complete the internationally recognized Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Level 5 in Coaching & Mentoring qualification. This investment will strengthen our internal leadership, enhance professional coaching capacity, and ensure lasting impact for street-connected children and young people in Mombasa.

At the same time, GHK LEAP 2026 will intentionally focus on empowering our beneficiaries to grow into confident, responsible, and self-reliant young adults.

Learn

Our work offers GHK staff the opportunity to continuously learn best practices. We are intentional about creating a culture of learning through internal training sessions and participation in external learning events. This not only improves our professional practice but also motivates each staff member to keep growing.

We are also committed to creating more age-appropriate learning opportunities for our beneficiaries, guided by their lived experiences and voices. As they learn, we support them in carrying that knowledge forward as they transition into new stages of life.

Empower

At GHK, we believe in empowering individuals to take control of their lives. We understand that empowerment is a process, especially for those who have experienced poverty, trauma, abuse, or lack of opportunity. An empowered child becomes a transformed individual resilient, confident, and ready to face life’s challenges.

Apply

Learning becomes meaningful when it is applied. Both staff and beneficiaries are encouraged to put their knowledge and skills into practice, within the organization and in their communities. Through application, we aim to foster growth, strengthen relationships, and improve lives.

Play

Play brings people together. It is for everyone, children, adults, beneficiaries, and GHK staff alike. Through shared activities such as organized matches, fun runs, or indoor games, play fosters connection and breaks down barriers. We believe that play should extend beyond coaching sessions; it should be an integral part of building trust, healing, and community.
